Room Hire FAQs
Thinking of hiring one of spaces? Here is some information you will likely find useful. Do not hesitate to ask if your particular query is not on this list - we’re here to help.
Do you offer discounts to local residents, not for profit organisations, or for bulk bookings?
Yes! As follows:
Local residents
We offer concession rates to those who live within one mile of the Centre. Email us to find out more if this applies to you: bookings@fitzroviacommunitycentre.org.
Not-for-profit organisations
We offer concession rates to small charity organisations with an annual income up to £250,000. We will need your Charity Registration number or a copy of your Memorandum and Articles of Association to apply the discount to your booking.
Regular and bulk bookings
We welcome regular hirers and offer a 5% discount. You must pay for your bookings in advance, every quarter, to qualify for the discount.

We do not currently offer discounts to students or NHS staff or other discounts in conjunction with those stated above.
Is there a minimum hire period?
Yes, a minimum of 2 hours is required for all bookings.
Do you accept evening and weekend bookings?
We do. Our normal hours for room hire bookings is Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 5pm
If your event is due to take place or requires time outside of these hours, the standard hourly hire charge will increase by 1.5 for the period outside of the normal hours. However, if you are looking to hire with us on a regular basis, please speak to us about this.
Can we hire a room on public holidays?
We are happy to consider accommodating bookings on public holidays if we have staff available. The standard hire rate increases by 1.5 for one-off bookings. If you are looking to hire with us on a regular basis, please speak to us about this.
What about food and drink?
We are unable to provide catering, but you are very welcome to organise your own. Here is a list of caterers close to our Centre.
Events which involve catering will require a cash deposit of £50 to be paid on arrival of your event date. We’ll return this deposit to you when the rooms, kitchens or kitchenettes used have been left in their original condition. Please ensure all cleaning and restoration of the areas is done within the duration of your booking.
Tap water is available to you throughout your booking time on, well … tap!
Break time refreshments?
We can provide:
Selection of teas and filter coffee - £5 per head.
Selection of teas, filter coffee, and biscuits - £6 per head.
Oat milk - £0.50 per head.

Are you a TEN licensed premise?
No, not currently. If your event involves alcohol and participants/attendees will be buying tickets or paying for their place to attend the event, or they are making a donation towards participation, that counts as the sale of alcohol. In these cases, you will need to provide us with a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). Find out how to apply here.
What’s available in the commercial kitchen?
Our commercial kitchen offers you access to appliances and a range of mix and match tableware. Please note that teas, coffee, milk and any other food and drink products stored in the kitchen are not provided as part of the hire of the kitchen. If you would like tea and coffee refreshments whilst you are with us, please bring your own or book this as an add-on service (see ‘What about food and drink?’ section).

Apologies but we do not currently provide toys for birthday party hire.
Can I use my own electrical equipment?
We don’t allow toasters, sandwich makers or deep fat fryers to be used on our premises. You may bring other electrical items for use during your event only if they have received a successful Electrical Equipment PAT test within the last 12 months.
Are there any items which are prohibited?
For the safety of all concerned, we do not allow the use candles or anything else with a naked flame. Pressurised containers such as balloon inflators are also prohibited. And sorry but we do not allow inflatable equipment that requires power supply (such as bouncy castles).
Is parking available?
There are no free parking spaces available at our location; there is limited paid parking along Foley Street and several car parks are available within the vicinity, check them here on Google.
Can we play music during our event?
We do permit music to be played in certain circumstances, please let us know at the time of your booking if you would like approval for this. Of utmost importance to us is being good neighbours to our nearby residents. Nobody likes a noisy neighbour!
What’s your cancellation policy?
Should you have to cancel or reschedule your booking, you should let us know as soon as possible. You will be entitled to a refund if you meet certain conditions. Please check the full details in our terms and conditions policy.
