Volunteers Week

A team of volunteers refresh the furniture in our Secret Garden

Earlier this month we celebrated Volunteers Week and we couldn’t let it pass without giving a huge shout out to some of our star volunteers who have devoted their time and passion to help us provide a welcoming and inclusive service for all the community. To say thank you, we treated them to complimentary tickets from the British Museum to attend a community preview of their exhibitions.

In no particular order, our sincere and heartfelt thanks go to ...

Dean, who has been with us since September 2023, escorting one of our regular attendees who is wheelchair-bound to and from weekly arts classes. Without Dean, they would not have had these regular, social contact and creative opportunities. Dean is leaving our pool of volunteers this month to start a full-time job, and we wish him all the best!

Sylvia began volunteering for us on Reception in May 2023. This time we don’t have to say goodbye, because Sylvia has recently been appointed as our new Administrator. Sylvia is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese and we are incredibly excited to welcome her onto the team.

Alberta has been using her sustainable fashion background to support students at the Make & Mend sewing class on Mondays, run by Camden Adult & Community Learning

Maira has been living in London on a temporary basis, and volunteering her extensive administrative skills to help us with the smooth running of the Centre. She leaves us next month to relocate overseas, and we hope very much to see her again.

And finally, thank you to Maira, Andrew and Dean who rolled up their sleeves and replanted our garden and window boxes at our twice-yearly Planting Day, with the help of our community gardener, Mark. Thanks to them the garden is full of colour, ready to be enjoyed by all those who visit. Bring your lunch and escape the traffic in our beautiful green oasis, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
